ARCHITECTURAL INTENT
A rugged contemporary interpretation of traditional Scottish stronghold architecture overlooking historic loch waters.
The Highland Keep reimagines the vernacular defensive stronghold through a modern lens, integrating seamlessly into the dramatic, mist-shrouded topography of the Scottish highlands.
Anchored by heavy local dry-stack stone walls and weathered corten steel cladding, the residence protects an internal sheltered courtyard while thrusting a dramatic glass-walled cantilever out over the slope.
The low-slung slate rooflines echo the contours of the surrounding mountains, while expansive structural glazing captures uninterrupted, panoramic reflections of the loch and changing Highland skies.
Natural water channels and native heather frame the approach, grounding the structure deeply in its remote wilderness context.
